I noticed that about myself.:laughing7:

Went to buy some new work pants Sunday and put on the 32s I normally wear....Nooooooope. So it looks like me and the pooch will be doing a little extra jogging this spring. After I left the store I went home and ate some jalapeño poppers, hot wings then some chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. I'll start that diet when the snows gone 8-)

The only reason for belt hole expansion is for the extra layer of insulated jeans and the 260 Icebreakers merino wool layer from the neck to the tips of the toes. Nothing like having a great warm layer to ward off the -temps. of -20/-30. It's just the paws that I have to work on, looking into a heated mitts or gloves to help with keeping the digits warm.
The only upside to these temps are the dog turds turn to stone and are an easy clean up.

So seriously ya'll after a freeze like we've had down here in Tennesee when is it feasible to go out digging again? I've got a new little Eagle shovel that is pacing the floor in the garage to be put to use! Weatherman "says" it will be in the 40's tomorrow but I can see us loading up the gear and being disappointed that we can't break through " permafrost ?"

Take a pick axe with you CG.

We set a record last night -11 not one I care to repeat. Our high today will be 17, wind 10 mph. 1-3" of snow tomorrow temp will hit 33, then nose dive again .

My biggest pet peeve it seems we always have to call the city to get road salt on our street! We came home last night the street was packed ice and the car in front of us got stuck in the road which is not plowed wide enough for two cars to pass. We backed down the street and went around and up the hill, we made it because we have 4X4, our son didn't he went back around and still didn't have enough traction to get in the driveway, went around again while I poured rock salt in the road (rock salt is hard to find now). He finally made it in the driveway but at that point we were all ticked off!

At this point I hate winter!!!!! I haven't been detecting since early December. All the walls have claw marks!

I work on the ocean and right now there's ice two miles out. I can't remember the last bad one but maybe it was '03? This has it beat for sure. It got into the 40's for 8 hrs a few days ago and I wore a t-shirt outside. But who am i to moan, my -4 is still better then Abe's -21!

I feel your pain. Here in central N.Y. I got between 4 - 5 feet in the yard. I think once this month it made it above 32 degrees. The wind chill is horrible, and I hate being cold all the time. The older I get, the more I hate the cold. We have an old brick house built in the mid 1700s and needless to say, no insulation what so ever. Propane heater in the kitchen, and wood stove down cellar for the rest of the house. Made it up to 53 today. Come on spring or summer. All my detecting equipment is just waiting to be used. Hoping this all melts before may or June.
