It's not where it's when. My current equipment and 1900-1910.
But since that's not possible. San Diego Ca in the summer and just about any where on the east coast of Florida in the winter.

First I would vote for Bigfoot1 for president!!!!!:occasion14::thumbsup: ,but I live in New York in a colonial historic area which is great for detecting. I would move south to detect in civil war battlefields though that would be really cool:icon_thumleft::icon_thumleft::occasion14:

I think another consideration is what your interests are. For some people, finding anything from their local area history (where they enjoy living) is enough and satisfying. But my question is more along the lines of where would you actually move to if your goal, your interest, or your dream is metal detecting/treasure hunting. For me, finding something from 1890 or after isn't very exciting. Thus, this is why I dislike the Chicago suburbs area and the majority of the USA for detecting where history is more limited (with the exception of eastern and southern states) and the relics more rare (and the laws becoming more strict).

Eastern US. More history to be found there than where I live. If close enough to the coast, hunt the beaches. Next would be England; a lot of history there for sure.

a little off topic, but I have been watching prospectors on the weather channel lately, I must say it would be awesome to live in the Colorado mountains.Don't know how good the metal detecting would be but how nice would that be to find gem stones.A hobby you can enjoy and make a living off of or even possibly get rich.Keep choice finds for your collection and sell the rest.if I lived there that is one hobby I would take up for sure!

Colorado could be a strategic place to detect with the old cowboy history. But I imagine most old ghost towns and such are off limits?

Hey USMC Reaper- I'm guessing because you were military that you worked at the embassy. That was quite an interesting time to be in Bogota! In fact, the created a Netflix show about that time in Bogota- do you ever watch Narcos?

I would pick Central Asia like Afghanistan, uzbekistan, Kazakhstan because 1). They've been barely touched and 2) they have as much if not more history than any country in Europe. Of course it's too dangerous and I'd probably get arrested but you can always dream:)
