If you spot a rattlesnake, there's no need for a gun. Just walk away from it. The one's that get you are the ones you don't see until it's too late to react and a gun won't help you with those boys!

If you do get a snake bite kill the snake so you can show it to you recovery team/Medic.

When I'm out in the mountains looking, I'm always armed. I've run across many Timber Rattlesnakes and Copperheads, never had to kill one.. hornet's nest is a "must watch for"! Bears, wild hogs, wolves, and the cougar, also share the mountains.. the one you need to really watch is man!'

I've never carried water while in the mountains.. but, I'm "wood wise"! :icon_thumleft:

All my digging tools are titanium.. light, strong, and dependable! The targets I'm looking for will determine which tools I carry.. most of the time I'll have my hand digger with me.. which is also good for ginseng too!

And also compass, GPS, and maps.. unless the location is well known.
