I have the Garrett A/T Pro and I would like to compare it to the Whites MX Sport. Is there a spec sheet so I can compare the units side by side? Any pros and cons from the users?
Any comparison charts, between any two machines, of any two brands/models, will be full of holes
You're probably thinking of something like the "consumer reports" where you can compare side-by-side TV's, VCR's, cars & trucks, etc..., Right ? So that it's as simple as cars "MPG, and 0 to 60 acceleration, and whether or not they have air conditioning, and inches of leg-room, etc.... Right ?
Oh but-I-wish metal detectors were that easy to have a column-filled chart like that. But every single data component will be filled with "gotchas". For example, the immediate go-to column will be depth. Right ? Ie.: "which machine shows the deepest in the depth column". Afterall, that's what all we md'rs are after, right ? So the consumer-report reading person rushes out to buy the one that shows 2 ft. deep on a nickel. Imagine his surprise when he finds out that it "rings the bells of notre dame" on every single pinhead and staple, doh! And has zero ability to disc. out iron. !
So he goes back to his "consumer reports" charts to get one that has a check marked , that ... yes ... it offers discrimination. And finds that there's another that gets a nickel to 14" AND has discrimination Wooohooo. So he buys it. Imagine his surprise when he realizes that the machine "hits a brick wall" in any soil that has even the mildest minerals. Or that "everything beyond 7" sounds the same , and it continually gets fooled by bend nails.
Thus, sure, you'll find lots of "spec" sheets and consumer review charts for detectors. But the bottom line is, which one works best in the field, in your area, for your type hunting .
Kellyco used to have a chart to compare the specifications of different manufacturers. They updated their site, and I had to go looking for it. It's not as convenient as it used to be, but here it is:
