Depending on the area you hunt, Beach, Water or Field You need to get a detector that suits your environment for the proper operation. The skills will come with whatever the appropriate detector for that environment.

Money no object? The top of each brand. If I have to pick either the CTX-3030 or the XP Deus.

If money was no object, I'd retire and buy a 300k motor coach and drive around to meet all the tnet members and dig on their turf. As for metal detectors I would buy a CTX 3030 to replace my 1280x Aquanaut and maybe get a AKA Signum MFD Pro deep search metal detector to do some CW relic hunting. My F75LTD2 and XP Deus would stay in my arsenal, I might buy the 9" coil for the Deus though.

Since I can't put as much time as I want in the hobby this year, the best choice for me would be to get the 2 or 3 detectors that are the best for my type of hunts. I don't want to buy the top of the line detector, if it takes me many seasons to understand and operate properly, jmho.

An Deus for land, an Excal for salt water. And a Makro, a White Sport and an AT Pro just so I could compare the three.

Im happy with the detectors i have...if money were not an issue, i would instead purchase every piece of property i ever wanted to detect and have the biggest playground on earth! When it comes to permission, i've never said no to myself.
