Could this day be worse? First the total catastrophe in Vegas, and now apparently another skilled musician is in critical condition. I will never forget his work with the Heartbreakers, The Legendary Travelling Wilburys, and his solo work. Sources say that he is in horrible condition right now, and many sources report him to be dead. I hope this isn't true and he pulls through. These past two years have been horrible for music. RIP David Bowie, Prince, Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, Glenn Frey, Leonard Cohen, George Micheal, Chuck Berry, and Hopefully not Tom Petty. These names a little too familiar to me!

I'm seeing conflicting reports on the news web sites as to whether he has passed away or not. Hopefully not. We all have to go at some point, but some go too soon. I'm glad that I got to see him in concert back in the early 90's. It was an awesome show

I sadly have never been to a concert, gasp. So many people I want to see while I can, most of my favorite bands and artists are certainly getting up there in years. I hope to see some while they still are able to perform. Awesome that you were there! It would be incredible to see him in concert!

Last I read was that the PD was premature in the death announcement. BUT, he had a heart attack + has no brain activity + has a Do Not Resuscitate. Not expected to survive the night.
RIP Tom.

Lots don't know but Tom Petty had a radio station on Sirius Radio and he played stuff not easily heard else where.
Always willing to share the stage. An original.

I liked him with the Travelling Wilburys. Sorry to hear this. Folks like this kinda provide the soundtrack to your life. But, at least Keith Richards still lives!!!

I wish that they could have recorded more albums with their original lineup. Once Orbison died shortly after though, they would never be the same, and I think they knew this and broke up the band. At least Jeff Lynne of ELO and Bob Dylan are still alive, the two remaining Wilburys, and also great artists on their own. Very sad that so many great musicians have passed away in recent years! RIP Tom Petty.
