squiggles, symbols, graffiti, etc.... probably mean nothing-at-all to do with treasures, or "pirates", etc..... If you look around at any random landscape, wherever mankind has been, you will find endless possible squiggles, designs, graffiti, etc.... That mean nothing at all.

Now if you had a SPECIFIC REASON to be suspecting a sign to mark something in a given spot, sure. But to just wander the landscape seeing "treasure-signs in every uncanny landscape" feature, is ..... reading-too-much hollywood into these things.
