Nevada County metal detecting?

Does anyone know legal and decent areas to detect around Nevada County? Any pointers would be great.

As for "legal" : I don't know of any place (public land) that's not fair game there. Just avoid obvious historic sensitive monuments.

As for "decent", If someone's got a good spot producing old coins, they might not divulge. But if you go to old topo maps (I see editions that date back to the 1880s and '90s), you can study for the little burgs that used to exist. Then compare to modern satellite maps to see if they correspond to what's now vacant land.
