.... What replaced the minelab sov,and explorer.....

Nothing new, since these machines, except whistles and bells. I refuse to part with my Explorer II, and keep up with all the "new-fangled" machines in any competition hunts.

Granted, it doesn't do well on micro-jewelry (earring studs, etc...), and isn't keen on seeing through thick patches of nails in ghost-townsy sites. There are other machines that do better in those departments. But then again, they may not excel on deep silver or TID's at depth. So the "trade-offs" have not ceased to exist. And any machine that touts that it can "do it all", will invariably have compromises in each dept.

That's kinda strange. My explorer II does awesome on tiny targets.
Probably soil differences.

Nothing new?
1. Lighter weight
2. Wireless headphone capabilities
3. Faster processor
4. Better Backlit Screen
5. Multi Frequency different than fbs or bbs.
6. Less expensive
7. Firmware updatable
8. Waterproof
Wait there’s more! But I’m too tired to go through it!
