I was always interested in history..it was my minor in college (do they even still have minors??) and I guess I inherited my love of history from my father.
We used to talk about getting one and he would talk about the old things that were possibly in the ground but he could not walk or swing a detector (disabled vet and muscular dystrophy) so he never got to really do it.
Flash forward several years past divorce and horrific years...and someone loaned me a detector once for a week and I got hooked; not only cause it feeds my love of history but also because it's a good way to put the world on the back burner for a while.
I think of my dad every time I go out though and kinda wish he was still around to share the finds with..even if they are usually crap.. :)

BTW..SIR, this post is serious and thought-provoking...are you alright? ;D ;D

Your Father sounded like a great guy.

Never really knew my Father until his illness it was during this dark sad time I learnt most from him. If I'm half as brave as he was then I would have done him proud. Sorry don't mean to be depressing it was just about this time of year when he passed away never had the chance to tell him kind of makes me feel better to write it here.

on a lighter note

omg I do feel kinda of strange might visit the doc :D :D :D

I'm brand new at it. Mostly became interested after collecting coins and currency for quite some time now. I also love to actually hold/ touch things from the past and wonder where they have been and what hands touched them. ;)

Hey. You opened the door and asked a sensitive question and we all responded honestly...

I, for one, don't think that this string disintegrated into smut when we only diverted into an indepth anotomical evaluation discussion.

Hell, even Shanealang said that he loves to actually hold and touch things and wonders where they have been and what hands touched them.

So its extremely obvious that we all came to this hobby with various and somethimes, very obscure reasons.

Her number is 1-900-500-1000...give her a moan, I mean a call.

I always loved the idea of metal detecting. It wasn't until I moved out and bought my own house that I got my first detector. (24 yrs old) I have loved it ever since.

I think Kenny Chesney said it best...........

Plowing these fields in the hot summer sun
Over by the gate lordy here she comes
With a basket full of chicken and a big cold jug of sweet tea
I make a little room and she climbs on up
Open up a throttle and stir a little dust
Just look at her face she ain't a foolin me

She thinks my 'tector's sexy
It really turns her on
She's always staring at me
While I'm chuggin along
She likes the way it's pullin' while we're tillin' up the land
She's even kind of crazy 'bout my farmer's tan
She's the only one who really understands what gets me
She thinks my 'tector's sexy

We ride back and forth until we run out of light
Take it to the barn put it up for the night
Climb up in the loft sit and talk with the radio on
She said she's got a dream and I asked what it is
She wants a little farm and a yard full of kids
One more teeny weeny ride before take her home

She thinks my 'tector's sexy
It really turns her on
She's always staring at me
While I'm chuggin along
She likes the way it's pullin' while we're tillin' up the land
She's even kind of crazy 'bout my farmer's tan
She's the only one who really understands what gets me
She thinks my 'tector's sexy

Well she ain't into cars or pick up trucks
But if it runs like a Deere man her eyes light up

She thinks my 'tector's ....

She thinks my 'tector's sexy
It really turns her on
She's always staring at me
While I'm chuggin along
