    Ancient art or nothing special

This rock was found in a creek in an area known for its arrowheads and native artifacts. I think it?s chert but the bottom seems to be a little different. What do y?all think?Click image for larger version.

It looks like a tool used in flaking arrowheads. Probably as an anvil and edge abraider. The marks are from grinding edges to create a stiffer platform .

I'm not a rock person, but, to my untrained eyes that looks
to be something special...more than just monetary value.

Consider the history of that stone..in ancient times someone held it as they
sat around a campfire; working a stone into an arrowhead. Considering
the number of marks on the stone, it was a well used, and undoubtedly a
valuable tool to the user. Imagine the stories it could tell..Name: zipper.gif

If you do the research and learn about it's history, that will lead you
    to establishing a value.

Okay I’ll see what I can learn about the history of this stone. I appreciate the advice. I really am not considering letting this thing go but I would like to have a general idea I guess. I have the stone sitting in the open at my place and if it’s something I need to put up I guess I will put it up

I'd start by finding out what ancient peoples lived in that area,
as then you'll have an idea of who made it, and maybe what it
    was used for.
