short story. Had to share.

On the way home (to UT) from a quick Vegas vacation when we stopped in Mesquite, NV for some dinner in the Eureka Casino. My wife had to use the bathroom so there I stood waiting for her. Directly in front of the bathrooms was a bank of slots and one of them was called "beach comber" with a cartoon guy detecting a beach. I took it as a sign from the detecting gods and put a $20 in it while I waited. On the 3rd or 4th pull I hit it for $350. My wife just laughed and called me a nerd.

My wife calls me a nerd all the time. My response is 'this nerd got you'. I'm blessed with a beautiful wife and daughter - I'm proud to be a nerd.

It's funny I was think about this the other day. When I first started metal detecting I did not want anyone to know about it. I would go to the local park and if I saw anyone around I would look for a different area to hunt. Now, I tell everyone and I'll hunt no matter who is around. I love it when someone starts busting chops and I reach into my pouch and pull out silver and/or gold. That is when the conversation changes to so how did you get started. lol

thats an amazing story, some times i feel like a nerd when people are whacthing. depends how close they are . all act like the detectore located some thing bend over pick some thing up look at it show excitment tords it, put it in my poach some times i dont have to fake it there is some thing there.
