I had a 1265X. Good machine, found lots of stuff with it. Yes it is a dual discriminstion machine. It has a toggle switch at the end the hand grip where you can change between the two discrimination settings. It uses eight AA batteries which are housed in the upper back section of the rod. Balance is good.

1265x is a lot like the 1266x, differences are the 1266x has a loud signal alert for deep signals (which I don't like makes deep signals sound the same as surface signals) The 1266x has a little more depth penetration.
