You could also try Dowsing If you have the Knack.

(2 Bent Coat Hangers)

Dowsing seems to be Selective

Both in who it works for

& in finding what they want & Ignoring what they don't.

Maybe an inexpensive pinpointer would be better.
Not so much interference from wires and stuff.

I hope you didn't take Commercials on
detectors so seariously That you think
one can be set up just to find gold
or that it will tell you what's there before you Dig/look

Any detector you turn on in your house
will go wild, everytime it nears Metal
from any direction.

Electric Lines with power running through them
can also effect a Detector. which Means you may need to
shut the power off.

Probes would be the best for looking behind non metal
things you can't move,
Under non metal things, & Between Non Metal things.
as their Detection Field is much more Limited.
