What is your top 10 "find wish list"?

What are the top 10 things you would like to find with your metal detector, and which items would be on the list, but you've already found them?

Here is a list of 10 items I really want to find, followed by several that would have made the list but I already found them :)

In no particular order:

1. Large cent
2. 3 cent piece
3. 2 cent piece
4. A seated silver coin
5. Standing Liberty Quarter
6. Spanish silver reale
7. Silver dollar
8. Civil War buckle
9. Civil War button
10. Class ring that I can return to the original owner

Found - Gold Coin (found one - 1886 $10)
Found - Gold ring (found several)
Found - Diamond ring (found one)
Found - Platinum ring (found one)

Re: What is your top 10 "find wish list"?

1. Mercury dime-- You'd think after hunting for almost 9 years, I would've found 1 of these by now. :BangHead:

2. Barber dime-- Maybe 1 day
3. Silver Washington Quarter-- See Mercury Dime
4. Half Dollar (any type)-- See Barber Dime
5. Silver Dollar-- not holding my breath
6. V nickel-- doubtful
7. Standing Liberty Quarter-- maybe I'll find it in the same hole as the V nickel :icon_jokercolor:
8. Barber Quarter-- see barber dime
9. 1909s V D B-- I'll probably find it my pocket change
10. Platinum ring-- I haven't found any gold rings this year, so maybe I'll just jump straight to Platinum.

Found 2 war nickels
Found Indian head penny
Found buffalo nickel
Found 2 class rings (returned)
Found wedding band (returned)

Re: What is your top 10 "find wish list"?

Well this list changes on a daily basis for me but here it is in no particular order:

1. Trade Dollar
2. Spanish Silver Reale
3. CW Token
4. US Flying Eagle Cent
5. US Twenty Cent Piece
6. US Silver Dollar (I'm more specific with US since I have found a Chinese Silver Dollar.)
7. Any Seated or Busted Coin
8. Trime
9. Any coin with a CC mint mark.
10a Gold coin
10b. Love Token
10c. SLQ

I'm sure I could easily do a second list of ten but I will leave this for now.

Items that were on my list and I've found: Merc, Barber Dime & Quarter, Silver Rosie and Washington, Gold Ring, War Time Nickel, Buffalo Nickel, Walking Liberty Half, Silver Kennedy Half, Three ring bullet, Indian Head Cent, Large Cent, 2 Cent piece, complete skeleton key.

Items that were not on my list but I found then added them to my list then crossed it off: Hard Times Token, Chinese Silver Dollar, Gold pocket watch, Lead ingot, clay marble, clay smoking pipe (okay the last two were surface finds but I was metal detecting at the time.)

I know I missing a ton of stuff but these are what come to mind.

Re: What is your top 10 "find wish list"?

I am primarily a beach hunter, so most of my dream finds are jewelry related. Do want some relics and coins sometime soon tho. :)

Would like to find:
1+ carat emerald
1+ carat ruby
1+ carat diamond
Platinum
Large Figaro style Gold Necklace
24 karat piece of gold jewelry
class ring
Gold Coin
Silver Dollar
Pre America Coins

Have found:
1+ carat sapphire
Enough to pay for my detectors!

Re: What is your top 10 "find wish list"?

1. Ten 30 lb. bars of gold;
2. A factory new box of 1873 manufactured Colt Single Action Army revolvers wrapped in grease;
3. A factory new box of 1873 manufactured 1873 Winchester rifles wrapped in grease;
4. A jar full of $20.00 Gold Eagles;
5. A gold wedding ring with a human skeleton still in it;
6. A human skull with a bullet in it;
7. A nice pair of North and Judd brass spurs, on the boots, with a human skeleton still in them;
8. A human skeleton full of trade points;
9. A big bison skull with a trade point in it;
10. A full set of conquistador’s armor with the conquistador’s skeleton still in it.

I’ve never found anything with a metal detector. But I found a lady’s gold watch on the beach at Waikiki, trade points and conical bullets at the Natural Fort north of Fort Collins, .50 cal. Rimfire cases on the Oregon Trail in WY., arrowheads, spear points, Bison skulls, and Bison horn sheaths in CO and WY.

Re: What is your top 10 "find wish list"?

1: Any Pre- 1960-s cache.
2: Gold coin (Any)
3: Gold ring (Diamonds a plus)
4: Silver ring
5: Any silver dollar or half.
6: Any coin from the 18th century. (Broke the 19th about a month ago :P)
7: Any Barber Quarter or half.
8: Civil War era belt plate.
9: (With perhaps a trip to Europe) Any coin 1000+ years old. ( I hate you Europeans. ) :(
10: Whichever nickel or penny predates the "V" nickel or "Indian" cent.

Found: Wheat cents: 20ish?, Buffalo nickels: 4, War nickels: 2, Silver quarters: 1 (My first silver, 1957 D), Silver dimes: 2, A Merc and a Barber ( Found the Barber before the Merc ) Indian Cent: 1 "V" nickels, 3 ( My first 19th Century was about a month ago, an 1897 V nickel)

Favorite finds? A 1900's era Yale/Towne railroad lock (At a ghost town here in Louisiana), and a WW2 Era dogtag found on the same property I found my first V nickel and silver on. (Also, a Ford Model T key)

Moral of this story? Little if any of these finds had to do with either the detector or the detectorist. RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! (Thank God for Sanborn maps) I started detecting November of 2007.

:)

Gold related: Only things I've found with any tenuous relation to gold was a child's gold plated ring and a gold plated medallion with the state seal of Louisiana on it (Which I inadvertently electrolisized the gold off of)
