This is a place where i found little bit of gold.
It was between the first big rock toward the bottom of photo and the second one going up the hill behind it.
Had one pretty little picker with some other fine gold from a small sample.
Look at the rock formations.
There is so many different kinds i do not know where to begin.
Hard to see but there is some heavy staining in the rocks straight back at the top.
I will be going back and would like to know how to better prospect this place.

The good news is most likely you are near the source, seeing that the cliffs are very nearby. Keep testing the ground going up hill until you find the source. Were you using a detector? I don't see any water source to pan or sluice in.

Best of luck to you on your next visit. Might want to try and move one of them boulders! :laughing7:

Looking at the photo, Is there a creek below the bottom of the picture. I ask because there seems to be water worn rock across the bottom part of the picture. So if that is the case the gold could be bench material from it.

Also you have sedimentary rock on the cliffs with some lava type rock in middle of pics. Was there any quartz in the sample area and if so is there quartz in the surrounding area. Obviously the location between the two boulders is down strike of the cliffs and part of the side run of intermittent stream coming down from the large lava boulders. Notice the cave or open area in the cliff face above the large lava boulders. Would be interesting to check that out. Also sample up in between the large lava boulders for color. Pat

No creek.
No Detector.
Yes i agree more sampling is needed.
I found gold there so OH YEA more sampling.
About a month or so after the snow melts off it.
Seams like it looks the same on the left side and right side but it is different.
It is that staining all around that has me thinking.
It is coming from there some place but i just do not know where.
