Never took it out of the truck. My brother did not feel up to going out and I was there to visit him so spent the weekend with him. He will be at the Mayo Clinic on Thursday and will be down for my surgery on Friday. He's doing good and we just got to see how each passing month goes. Has his good and bad days as it takes a long time for the chemo to leave the body. I too have lost interest but I am back and ready to get the trommel finished.
Well that's too bad about not being able to go out, I know for me it's a battle to get up and going. Then if/when I do get moving I feel better. I just hate when the pain wins. Never used to be this way. Lol. So keep up your spirit and it won't be too long before we're finding some color.

Garrett,

The shoulder feels great. I have full motion and the strength is getting better. The knee is another issues. For some sneaky reason I feel once the surgeon opens up the knee its going to be worse than seen in Xrays. I have a popping sound, not all the time but once in a while. I keep telling myself its the kneecap moving around. This will be my 9th surgery since 1980 and the third on my left knee, don't let your kids play football. When someone digs me up in 500 years they will be able to collect some titanium after the rest of me has turn to dust.

Sorry you're feeling so bad. Did you get an extra set of keys buried yet? (Trying to make light of it)

Keith I don't feel bad at all. I just can't move like I need to nor can I walk down hill as the pressure on the knee is to great.

The hose barbs to connect the water manifold to the spray bar and hopper using 1.25" ID braided hose arrived. The plan is to make up to Phx. maybe next week to have Jay (Justbent) make a few mods to the hopper so its water tight going into the cylinder. Then the trommel is off for paint then to the hills for some dirt.

Well my surgery did not go as I expected. I had thought I was going to have a small incision, but what I got was an incision the entire length of the scare of my first surgery. I do believe this is going to take some time to heal from as the knee is completely swollen and does not bend. Been icing it on and off every 30 minutes but that does not seem to be helping as of now.

Jeez sorry you have to go through that stuff again. The VA told me they could not do anything more to reduce the pain from my knee replacement. Not sure I would have another surgery even if they suggested it. Take care and get better soon.

Keith,
Hope you are feeling better buddy. That looks horrible and I can't imagine that it feels any better than it looks. Does the doc seem optimistic that the problem is resolved? Hope you heal quickly my friend.

Layn,

the knee is a mess and its like I am starting all over with rehab. It was my understanding prior to surgery that it was a simple repair but as you can see it was not. I am pissed off, no its not a total knee replacement but with the scare tissue and the tight feeling in the knee of which needs to be stretched out again and that alot of rehab.

I have the trommel ready in the event I can go to Phoenix next week. The plan was to have Jay finish up the hopper and try the trommel water system out before paint. This is all going to depend on my fathers health. At 92 he suffered a heart attack last Friday and still in the hospital.

The spray bar that runs the length of the cylinder I have threaded an end cap that I cut a small grove into the cap using a 4" grinder with a cut-off blade that was worn down to about 2" diameter. I angled the cut downward and cut through the inside about 1/2" wide and on the outside 1.5" wide, but the water will only come out through the 1/2" inside opening and fan out over the hopper. At the other end of the hopper will be another fitting that will spray water.

Sorry to learn that you are having injury's as well. Hope all gets better for you...

Stan its been a terrible year for our entire family. Just weeks ago my sister was stepping into her toy hauler only to get her foot caught between the two steps and fell backwards breaking her ankle in four places requiring surgery. My Dad has a rough road to overcome, but he is a fighter and today his health has improved. Still dealing with other issues besides the heart with kidney failure and fluid in the lungs.

The Trommel is finished with the exception of making the hopper water tight going into the cylinder, welding a deflector over the pipe inlet on the hopper, and paint.

I used a NPT pipe threaded fitting used in the electrical industry called a Myers Hub. The hub has a recessed O-ring and will seal against any flat surface. The hub made quick work in placing a spray fitting at the back of the hopper. Once at Jay's (JustBent) shop a deflector will be welded of which will have the water flowing across the bottom of the hopper. With the sprayer on the other end spraying onto the dirt and rock from the other direction everything should flow into the cylinder.

Here is some info. on the Meyers Hub of which is now called many names but all work on the same principal of sealing. As you can see you can get these up to 6 inches. HD has the hub up to 2 inches I believe.

Layn, all I can say is its a miracle with my father. Luckily one doctor had some tricks up his sleeve to get my dads lungs cleared of the fluid without using meds that were harmful to his kidneys. Today was remarkable when I went to see him, like night and day. There is a real good chance he will be out of the hospital by the weekend, but Sunday we were told to gather the family as they (heart and lung doctors) believed he was not going to make it through the night. Turns out the hospital staff doctor was not willing to give up.
