The USFWS service announced today the final ruling for critical habitat in the California Sierra Nevada. The frogs and toads, and greenies have won. Oh well, at least we fought fair. We didn't strategize for media attention, we didn't call for militia power. We
stated our case to the beauracrats, hoping they would see the facts. Like I said, - oh well.

Looks like all your efforts paid off big time then. Good luck with your next well thought out delivery of facts. Oh Well.

Let me translate, regular useage has little or no effect, but we the USFWS made a deal with the devil, Center for Biodiversity, they took our money, and now the drive the bus, and will not slow down until it goes over the cliff. Next Sage Grouse, Buffalo, ect, ect, ect.

"This final rtule is the result of exhaustive research, public comment, and scientific peer review," said Jennifer Norris, Field Supervisor for the Service's Sacramento Field Office. "While other moderate and minor level threats, including historic logging, mining, grazing pressures and recreational use were evaluated, they were not considered significant factors in our determination."

We didn't fight, what do you mean fair? there is no fair with these head cases. All we do is leave everything to the lawyers and this is what we get for it. Second amendment is the only thing left. Otherwise bend over and grab your ankles.

So, Ive tried to follow this best I could but still don't understand what this means for the rec prospector, is it all done for? What happens to peoples claims in the affected area? What officially changes after June 30th?

This does not affect the "recreational" gold prospector or even those that actually prospect under the mineral grant. Claims are still valid. Virtually all of the area the frogs are in are outside of the gold placer deposits. This will most affect fishermen over time. Most of the stocked fish in the higher lakes will be no longer stocked and eventually the higher elevations will go back to their original natural state of being without predator fish. Trout and sport fishermen will fight this because they are the ones affected.

The frogs are endangered because of the introduction of sport fish. Mining has little to no effect unless you are introducing poisons into a known frog habitat. That release of heavy metals into waterways is already prohibited by several laws so there will be no change for miners.

What officially changes after June 30th? Your favorite agency the CDFW loses it's biggest fans - the fishermen. Those who are crying about this listing might consider how the CDFW is going to have to concentrate more of it's funds and manpower removing the fish populations that are the base of their public support in California. :laughing7:

Now maybe the fishermen will stop blindly following the green-nazis and supporting them now that they are the ones being affected. Now they know how the miners feel when going up against junk science. They will now learn that not every smile is friendly.

The USFWS always says "nothing much will change", but why does this always seem to later happen ?

Everyone needs to understand. This is just the beginning. With senators pushing for a highly restricted buffer zone around the parks like Yosemite and the Frog habitat and the fact that the USFW are quietly setting up conservation easements. Once these are in place the tactics will allow the other areas to be closed off. Everyone will need a permit to travel in any of the mountain areas.

Then the next state, just like we have already witnessed. And the next. All of the actions are speeding up faster than anyone person knows or can follow.

Calif s air and water are now under the EPA s control. There are already draft plans for groundwater control on the SWRCB website etc. translation is lost water rights to private property

DFW on the suction dredge page are trying to make the emergency dredge ban permanent and have been changing the definitions every three months. If we were to follow regs for dfg WE Cant even dig in or near a stream, bank or river without asking.

Good luck to all

With all due respect Clay - this action is a very small part of a grand strategy to remove resource users from the sierra mountains. They, contrary to hikers, and mtn bikers, are "impacting" the otherwise pristine forests, in the eyes of green urbanites who want the illusion of wildnerness when they head out from the cities to refresh from the stresses of urban life. There are millions opposing thousands in this conflict. The loggers were first - they are mostly gone now due to spotted owl bs, - the miners and and off-roaders are in the cross-hairs now, along with ranchers who have grazed their cattle for a hundred years in sierra high country in summer. Its very obvious to myself and some others that hunters, snowmobilers are next. Last will be the fishermen because it is a "quiet" activity.
Time will tell - tune in next year to see what develops.

The so called public hearings they held on this were nothing but a farce. They were going to ram this through no matter what and the hearings were nothing more than a show to prevent the public from coming back later and saying "HEY!!! You closed this area without even asking us!".

The more I see of this kind of "Government by the Greenies" the more I'm getting ready for the second American revolution. The sides are going to boil down to real people with brains Vs idealist "do gooders" and their bought politicians and science. Real people are getting fed up with this kind of thing and having our rights stripped away one at a time.
