my day panning

sorry no pictures

anyhow, today I went to my spot about a 10 minutes walk from my house to do some panning
if you have been up to date with my posts its the spot that produces 0-3 flakes a pan
and there's not enough water flow for a sluice. by the time I got there and started my first pan it started raining
I managed to rough it out for a little but then it started raining so hard it was making the gravels in the river I was digging impossible to see
so I went back(only tripping once or twice in the mud on my way back)
i managed to get in 12 pans an heres what i got

so that makes it all worth it, but im still on the hunt for a good spot i can sluice in

is 2 flakes a pan considered good? i would think there is much better

There's always better somewhere, but if you haven't found better, I'd say 2 colors is 2 specs of gold! Any gold is good gold!

Compared to most your in a very rich area ! My calculator shows about .5556 ounces per ton and about $972.00 dollars per cubic yard, based on 2 grains in a 15 LB. pan.

Some people say $60.000 per cubic yard is very rich! Just need a way to move material that's probably the key. I know your close to some rich producing counties in GA.
so its no wonder. Luck is much better with hard work, you will figure a way.

Determining Your Gold's Networth from Flake Size
each flake is 3 cents
and there are 133 15 pound pans in a ton so .03 X 133 is $4 a ton
you where a bit off

O.K. we will correct the above using 12000 flakes per TROY. - .02222 ounces per ton and $38.89 per cubic yard.

Watchout that web page calculates @ 1998 prices for gold*. Take care.

FWIW, I've had days out prospecting when I've worked
20 pans of material that was entirely void of gold..and then
there's days when you hit the "sweet spot" with the first pan.
