All politics aside the trash has to go.. This has been a yearly event and it helps. Anyway there are multiple locations one can go and participate in. Anyway I will be Participating in the one hosted by NFARA (Ron Gould). The other day I ran into two prospectors and one of him unfortunately stated the truth of it. He remarked that Prospectors/miners leave more then their share of trash. Anyway I am not without fault in this. All one can do is live and learn and give back.. Anyway the more volunteers ultimately the more trash gone and better for everyone.

My brother showed me this. Should I be digging up Ant Hills?

I always make it a point to run my detector over ant hills just in case they brought one of these up. I suppose it could also be fruitful if one would pan the mound too if in a likely area.
On a side note: My parents moved to Nevada City in the thirties and my Mom told me that new friends from there told her to always check the contents of fresh chicken gizzards as there were reports of people finding gold mixed with the other gravel in them.

Well truthfully I am a little disappointed. seems Vollunteers are Far and Few.. It seems to me that this is as common of ground we can hope for. And it benefits everyone. And you get results.. More then I can say for all these guys begging us to do our Part by sending them money.. Everywhere I turn I find some group that's fighting for the people ect ect ect.. And maybe they are? but the simple truth is it is the Communities that suffer.. For me I care not about Legal battles Court rooms ect ect.. Its all a big Joke? Everyone knows that the only thing that talks in America is MONEY.. Anyway I personally choose not to give CHARITY so a bunch of Forked TOUNGED men can eat better then I do. Me I like to see RESULTS.. And that what makes this cleanup an AWESOME OPPURTUNITY something is actualy getting done.. Not far far away but right here in our own community..

I hope more people will take participate.. As it stands now The Mineral Bar Clean up is goining to be a easy clean up as BLM has made it clear that they do not want the trash picked up on Stevens Trail.. Even though some of those sites have been around for years... SO FREAKING STUPID>..Anyway still working on that BULL SHHHHT.. The cleanup is only about three hours 9-12 I think.. I am going to do my best to get a campsite for the Day and hopefuly be able to Barbacue lunch for all the Vollunteers. To be honest now the Vollunteer count is freaking SAD.. I hope to double last years attendance. Gentlemen I implore everyone who can find a little time please come out.. LETS ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE>>>
This a Family friendly event all ages welcome!!!

The Mineral Bar Cleanup will be next Saturday the 20th from 9am-12pm. You must preregister at Hills Flat lumber on the frontage road along the freeway in Colfax between 8-9am the day of. Bring gloves, sturdy shoes and plenty of water. Bring someone with you if you can. If you need further info call Jim at 530-389-8344. When I spoke to Jim he asked which group I was with and seemed amazed that miners would actually clean up trash. It appears that they believe that the squatting miners are the problem with producing the abundance of trash in the areas to be cleaned up. If you can help for a few hours next Saturday morning maybe we can do some good reputation wise and environmentally. Thanks in advance for your participation. Anyone that need a ride from Sacramento up there PM me.

This sounds all fine and dandy....but...why on earth do you "Must Preregister" to walk along a river and pick up trash? I have been pickin up trash along rivers for 30+ yrs and never had to "Preregister" And who the heck is Jim? What the hell is a "Squatting Miner"? MM, why would BLM care what area you pick up trash at? I think I will go just to see this myself.

Not allowing you to clean Stevens trail is righteous insanity!! They(FS) are too lazy and job done for free. I'd clean it anyway as what the idjets going to do? Ticket you for picking up trash?? OOPS yes they can if historical site,ez enough to see under historical places/monuments listings. Kudos as we've been cleaning up the trinity and sacramento rivers for over 30 years now. My claims ALL THE TIME sic sic sic filthy tourists-John

"Squatting Miner" ... This is a somewhat complicated issue.. I know of people who have lived on the river for years. And some of them are not the cleanest of folk.. Now this is a homeless problem.. The fact that these people engage in prospecting/mining is irrelevant.. I know a lot of these individuals and find that most often their mining are more of a lifestyle. One man been their three years and he manages to get by on less then a Pennyweight a week. Honestly I see little difference in Homeless on the river and the homeless here in the city. Just that city bums pick up cans and panhandle .. River Bums try to pick up gold.. It just a stupid blame game.. The issue is clear Homelessness is a problem.. Not a river problem or city problem but a homeless problem..

Steven's trail trash... I have contacted BLM and hope to get a reply on Monday.. Now so far I am confused by what I have been told by the BLM operator.. James Eicher has been out of the office I have been told. he is the one I was told to speak to in this matter. I sent him the following email..
to jeicher
SirI am sure you are aware of the Great Sierra River Cleanup . the cleanup of Penny weight Trail. even though this area has been cleaned up already just a few months ago.. Truth is there are areas that are in more need. Stevens Trail is littered with trash/abondended camps ect ect some of the Camps have been their for YEARS.. Now it has come to my attention that for what ever Reason BLM does not wish for that area to be cleaned.. It seems to me and a lot of others that this event is a great opportunity to take care of that.
I am at a loss when I am told that we can not pick up that trash?
WHY?Truthfully I fail to understand why someones needs PERMISSION to pick up trash.. And it's even more crazy to find out that the Answer to cleaning up STEVENS was a BIG NO?
Sir I sincerely hope you that you reconsider this.
Also I would like to be informed truthfully on the reason for people having to ask permission to clean up PUBLIC LANDS.. Is it a LAW?
What If I decide to just go ahead and clean up various sections of the river without BLM consent. IS THAT A CRIME? Can I be Jailed lol?
Sir I hope you Reconsider and if not I expect to have a GOOD reason on why not.. A simple NO will not put me to rest I assure you..
Thank you for your time.. I hope this finds you and your loved ones well
Sincerely
Victor A Marshall

Anyway we will see what comes of it..

Now as for the who putting the event on.. I doubt any of those people will be around but who knows.. In Todays world I find that Taxpayers Dollars are Rarely used properly.. A sad fact.. And the politics well politics are politics.
Truthfully the only thing I wish to accomplish is getting the trash out of the river.. truthfully I think that if More of these Pro Mining adovacates hosted clean ups and such it would be a good thing all a round.. other then on a individual basis it seems that these clean ups and such are always hosted by these conservation groups never by prospectors/miners... I have found Hiking clubs /kayaking clubs/ crazy conservationalist clubs they have all hosted clean ups.. Now I could be mistaken on this but so far I yet to encounter any info that would lead me to believe other wise. Anyway I wish I had more time this morning but I have to go.. Headed up to Foresthill for a day of festivities.

It's all about power and control. The political types have appointed
themselves as much power as they can get, and all this does is
give them a chance to exercise it over the people. It's what some
of those political maggots live for.

Pre-register...permission...I'd be telling them to kiss my rosy
red arse..I don't need to ask anyone for permission, and if they
don't like it that's just tough. If I was you I'd go clean up that
mess and make sure you take along one of those nosy TV reporters
that ain't afraid to get their hands dirty. Then, if they (BLM or anyone)
gives you any crap about the good work you're doing it'll be all over
the 5 O'Clock news.

Politicians hate getting slammed in the press, especially when there's
pics of you picking up trash while the gendarme's write you a ticket
for doing so.

Could be some preservationist wacko found a new species of amoeba
in that garbage and is now moving to have it listed as an endangered
species?

Save the Sierra Trail Red-Spotted Amoeba!

The pics you posted have 3 males, and 10 females...anyone think one of those
gals is going to risk breaking a fingernail while pick up trash? BWHAHAHAHAHA....

I agree with Hefty1. I too find myself picking up beer cans and bottles that others have left behind. It's a shame people just don't care.

The group putting it on would rather have ZERO prospecting on any forks Of the American. To them and many a "Squatting Miner" is equal to all miners.....one in the same. I understand people have problems and are in unfortunate situations I have been poor and homeless when I was in my twenties. I was " RICH" homeless I had a job and a van to sleep in but not much else. It didn't give me the right to leave all my crap in the woods when I broke camp. Most of the other homeless we camped near at night were very decent people. It was the people in really bad shape that littered a lot and just didn't care. I feel like anyone who "Gorilla Camps" is well advised to be clean and respectful of the woods if they are really living out there for the solace. If your gonna litter leave your trash everywhere and be disrespectful of the forest and possibly give others a bad name I would rather you be in some alley somewhere. As far as getting behind the Sierra Conservancy???? They are astate agency...money out of our pockets pays their salaries and has funded 50+ million dollars givin to groups that want there to be ZERO prospecting Victor. So spent 50 million in taxpayer money and asks for volunteers?????Why pre register????? that list of names substantiates and fills certain criteria that keep grant money flowing. Why would BLM say no to a clean up...because they are a bureaucracy....they couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag.....you are seeing administration in perpetuity...they havn't figured out a way to charge you for volunteering yet. Sorry man I think its time you look into your feelings on mining clubs and their members vs. a group like the Sierra Conservancy. Does Dave Mac. have 50 Million....do the local Gpaa chapters or the Gold Hounds, at least the sale of the outdoor channel by the Massey family is just good ol'fashioned capitalism....But, taxpayer money to pay salaries to people and help legislate against mining ....not the side I'm gonna volunteer for.

Well no doubt all you say is true.. I am quite aware of the POLITICS.. It sad .. Me I have no faith in the Government. None in are Legal system. With that being said why would I put effort or stock into trying to fix something with something that is broken... Now for me I figure no matter what I do someone else will capitalize on me.. Whether it be for money or other ways.. What can one do?
Well like I stated it is all about the trash.. I live here . That simple. I suppose I can go to extremes and find the political agendas of every dam business. And not use their products or anything.. Hell I have seen Apps to help you in this pursuit.. But to me that's a little insane.. I see the exploitation that these groups use no different then the exploitation used by sears and everyone else when you try to buy something and they want your email info and a slew of other crap. All about profits and political agendas .. Don't you love Captilalism?
What to do about this? hell if I know..
So I suppose we should let the trash stay! Me I just Assume throw out the freaking Politics with the TRASH...

I find that a lot of these people who I meet who support some of these different opinions often pretty much want the same thing I want.. And in most cases are quite reasonable. It seems to me once these issues leave the actual community and heads into Washington is when these things become RIDUCOULOUS an HOPELESS
Anyway

I look at this way.. Sept 20th for a change my taxpayer dollar will be put to use.. Becouse I will go out their and work and put it to use.

I do love capitalism. I know about the alternatives and they don't reward individual effort nearly as well.Funny thing about our society and politics and government the people who want the most from it put the least amount of effort into it....and complain the most about what they don't get for free. In no way do I want to leave trash in the woods. I would prefer people weren't lazy inconsiderate slobs....nothing political about it. I don't litter, I have cached Items and always remove them totally when I abandon a spot. If I come across some bums messy Illegal camp the first thing I will do when I get back out is report it to whichever jurisdiction would have interest. Most definitely gonna do my part to keep the woods clean and keep prospecting from being viewed negatively

"report it to whichever jurisdiction would have interest" Now do you really think they will do anything about it?

My point to all this is that these board members get paid boo coo bucks to promote this....then ask for volunteer's. If they get a lot, they pat themselves on the back and say look what "WE" did. If they don't, you don't here anything about it. With that kind of money, pay the Boy Scouts, or some other group to clean the rivers. There are lots of people out of work that would love to do that kind of work....
But then again....Where the hell is BLM rangers that suppose to patrol that area for those kind of things...Not doing their job period.

No, Hefty I know they wouldn't. I agree with you totally. You could spend half the money on people who were actually off their arse and did something. How many of those board members are gonna be cleaning up? And big whoop if they go once a year. We did it everyday when we were dredging........When I worked in Alaska the rangers put in serious work. I respected them a lot. I feel the funds would be better served if there were say five two man teams who were L.E.O. and patrolled the drainages and trails. Prevented public land abuse and hi-grading any of the numerous problems there are. Mark locations and organize cleanups twice a year pre and post flood season. Use inmates who have worked through some sort of positive reinforcement program, with the motivation to go out and work and better themselves and their surroundings. Only available to inmates actually showing the drive to reform. So for 700k 10 pairs of boots on the ground daily per county With large tracts of public land. . With an actual focus on true responsible conservation. If were gonna have laws and regs. I have no problem with fair consistant enforcement. I am not breaking the law nothing to hide. Less desks more boots. Proactive vs. Reactive.

We can pick each other to death.. But to what end?
For me it's a hard thing to swallow!! something as simple as Picking up trash in a place I live in becomes lost in this BULLSHT. Whatever to each there own.. How ever you to choose to participate is up to you whether it be by yourself or as a volunteer or how ever.. Ain't the Goal the same?
What really gets accomplished if we ourselves get wrapped up in this crap? I doubt any trash is getting picked up..

Well I am done debating this... You want to pick up some trash then come on out.. If not do something else..
