Got a chance to visit Pioneer Mining supply in Auburn. Picked up a few goodies. Only had a couple of hours to spare so I hit the MF just up from the confluence. Ran half a bucket of crevice material. My first gold from the Middle Fork. Now I have gold from all 3 forks. 20160929_071300.jpg Had a great time getting out and enjoying the scene. Got some color and removed some lead from the watershed!

Very Nice! The Middle fork is one of if not the largest of the three forks of the American and it has lots of gold in it! Unfortunately much of it is Private, Claimed, Guarded and some sections are leased for private mining as well as leased for fishing club('s).

A few years back I was privileged to be escorted into the area right below Foresthill, shown around a few of the workings, went into the old store which also housed the "Ladies of the Evening" or any other time I would suppose back in the day. I was also shown some gold that had been recently sniped off the bedrock and it was sizeable and heavy, lovely stuff! I was also shown pictures of past workings when the dredges were running and they had amazing pans to show off! It is also a wild and rough place especially when the water is running high and it always runs higher and more of it than the North Fork though in places it is easier to get into than most of the NFAR. Thanks for the lovely water pictures!...............63bkpkr

Thanks for the pictures. It looks like a great place to chase the gold, one rich in history.

All the best,

Nice work! I have pulled some nice flakes out of the Middle... I was close to where you were the other day and 3 rangers in rafts surprised me and said prospecting was illegal where I was... hmmm. they change their minds every year...

Pretty crazy! Probably just the Navy searching for mines in the waterway!
