If you're not scuba equipped and just long arming it, there's nothing more handy than a good viewing box.

Without a good viewing box, you're just a raccoon feeling for the next morsel of gold.

Simple to make and only takes 20-30 minutes to cut, seal and assemble.

Note: When screwing the plexi to the wood frame, do not over tighten the screws. Watch the flexible sealant and when it starts to spread, STOP. Let the sealant set for half an hour and then hand tighten until the sealant has spread to form a continuous seal..

Also, keep the eye hook low to prevent the box from porpoising in fast water. I use a 2" trailer ball as my anchor and about 6' of rope.

The good part about a viewing box is your hands are free and you can store tools in it and it makes for clear pictures of the gold sitting on bedrock.

I've got two of these in different sizes but they are so much fun to use I may build a few more for my mining buds.
