My number five son broght home an amethyst crystal the other day. I told him to take me to where he found it. After poking around for a few minutes I found this amazing specimen. Within 45 minutes I had located several other specimens using nothing other than my bare hands to find it. Can anyone give me any information concerning its rarity and if it would be worth my time to stake a claim on the site. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I would definately go back with a gold detector and see what else is available in gold at a minimum. Iam not sure as to how rare this type of find is but a call to a local rock shop or gem specialist would be worthwhile. Some specimens are very valuable and all specimens are normally more valuable than gold itself. If interested email me and I will refer you to a reputable nationally known dealer in specimen gold who it very honest and will give very honest advice. If there is much gold there it will be worth filing a claim.

EXTREMELY VALUABLE. First off tell no one, nobody,no how,Foresthill will buzz with the gossip and your find will vanish or you'll get sued or jailed for grand theft.RUN,don't walk to the local recorders office or get the newest forest circus map and find out the land status, then check for claims at the BLM in Sacramento on cottage way.I've known 2 guys killed in that neck a the deep woods, one in town over gold so KEEP THE KID QUIET!!! Claim, buy or whatever to get your hands on that property.Tons a au 2 u 2-John

Anything with "visible" gold is HIGH GRADE. Modern profitable gold mines mine ore in which there is NO visible gold. When living up in Northern Ontario 27 years ago I was given a small piece of quartz with a small streak of visible gold by an old retired miner. This type of gold in its natural state is collected by people and is often worth much more than the value of the weight of Gold it contains. What you have is beautiful, the quality of the Amethyst notwithstanding. Gold in visible form is not easy to come by these days. I envy your find. Take the advice on this forum and run to do everything you can do to secure this find. If there is more of what you posted, you have literally "found a gold mine" in the fullest sense of the expression.
