Here are some from Malibu, Palos Verdes, and Barstow CA.... Please help identify.

The first and last pics are to blurry. The middle could be a metaconglomerate. Seems metamorphic to me, any way.

Rocks near river

Found these near the Haw River in Burlington, NC. Any idea what they are? Didn't respond to a vinegar test and can't seem to be scratched with a knife. FYI, the brown coloring is dirt. IMG_2037.JPG

Kyanite? See if a knife will scratch it. If it does, I'm wrong. If not, I'll stick to Kyanite.

It scratches, yes. The lighter colored layers are considerably softer than the darker colored layers.

It scratches, yes. The lighter colored layers are considerably softer than the darker colored layers.

Have someone at a rock club or university check it out then. I'm out of guesses right now.
And recheck the scratch using magnification. If it left a "metallic line", it wasn't scratched.
