I hike right here in the middle of the Rockies in Summit County, Colorado. We have miles of rec paths and trails, which I wish Oklahoma would pick up on, but most times there's so many tourists on them that I start out with good intentions, but then just cut a trail through the woods. Why? I'm just better out there, I guess.
I hike where ever I'm heading to detect, fish or hunt.
I cant conceive walking aimlessly 14 thousand feet, only to turn back around and do it all over again.
My wife enjoys this.
I hike most anywhere in upstate NY, lots of opportunities. Lately have hooked up with some guys that are trying to bag the 46 highest peaks in our Adirondack Mts. Most of us have about a dozen under our belts. We hike with fairly large packs from anywhere in the 40 to 60 lb range. (keeps you in shape) Am looking for a detector that will pack small enough to fit in my pack too. Some of the campsites are pretty old and always find a few items around the old fire rings.
