Got done decorating my Chinese 56 SKS today.
Composit adjustable stock, 20 round magazine, short muzzle brake, and a 4x32 mil dot range estimating scope.
Also did the magazine drop bolt mod. http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php?topic=23876.0
Sure feels and looks good, Looking forward to some fun at the range.
Happy New Year Friends

They are SO MUCH fun to shoot - my favorite target gun. No recoil, but good sounds - and good accuracy.
You can shoot that all day long and never feel a shoulder twinge.
Good Luck!
Happy New Year!

Nice SKS..
It's alot of fun to shoot.
My 56 had one heck of a discharge though. It would throw brass 15+ feet away.
You should have no problem getting into the 300 yard range on a windless day.
I was never happy with accuracy @ 320+yards. Even with a Leupold Mark 4 Scope,
but I blame the load more then the rifle.
I kept my Yugo SKS 59 for fun at the range.
You should have a great time with it..
Enjoy

Re: Got done decorating my Chinese 56 SKS today.
I realize I'm a tad late responding to this thread, but, Merf, you did a great job modifying that SKS......it really looks good. I've been "prettying up" some Romanian AK's and selling them at a very nice profit. Not that many, but, enough to provide a little 'gun money' to buy something I really want. I have one AK that I keep as my own,.....it is a blast to shoot and pretty inexpensive with the surplus ammo, especially compared to my .308's! One great thing about either of those weapons, they always go bang when you pull the trigger!
Pics of my first one that I kept as mine:

That is a good looking AK Roland.
Is that a 3 by 9 scope?

Yeah, a 3 x 9 x 40 mm. It's a Pentax....I've never used one before, but, it seemed plenty bright, well made and had a bullet drop reticle. Supposed to be a $200+ scope and I got it for $68 on a close-out sale. I just got the real deal on a scope for the latest project, it's a 10 x 40 x 56mm with the finest reticle I have ever seen on a scope....looks like a strand of spider web! Of course, it get wider on the perimeter, plus the center is graduated in black, but, can be illuminated to 8 different levels in red or green. It has popup lens covers and came with some really heavy duty see-through mounts (I can still see the iron sights with the scope in place). Got that one for $120 with free shipping. I couldn't find an equivalent anywhere for less than $450.....I can't see putting more into the scope than I have in the weapon! This new sniper scope, however, is so long that I had to mount it as far as possible forward and use a 1 1/4" butt pad to get the proper eye relief. That works for me since I need a longer length of pull than the stock AK has.

Man, I love those good scopes---With aging eyes it is a necessity--- Except at close range.
I have a laser on my bedroom pistol. Best regards, Merf

You sound like me! I have Crimson Trace grip units on all my home defense pistols and a Crimson Trace green MVF-515 on my FN Herstal SCAR 17S.
Love the lasers for close range stuff!
