Thanks for all the nice comments. Saturday I am going to get pics of the son with the tags, the house he grew up in and his dad in uniform. Joseph said he has one. I'll get pics and post. Bryan

sour note....i just can not shake the feeling the veteran threw his dog tags in the pond...

I think he probably lost them while swimming, but you never know. I am sure he went through h e double-toothpicks over in France.

Don't fall into the modern day hokum that all veterans hated their service. Many of us were proud of our service, in fact, he might have been wearing them to show that he was a veteran when he lost them swimming. I still have mine.

Today was the day. The Clayton News-Star reporter showed up and we took pics. He took down all of the details and I will post the newspaper article when it appears. Here are some pics of todays meeting with Joseph Barbour, the son, 75 yrs old, of the veteran Norwood D. Barbour, owner of the dog tags. He was very appreciative and dumbfounded at the return of the tags. I have a pic of the home where he grew up, the pond where I found the tags and soforth. Enjoy. Bryan in Goldsboro, NC
