Bracelet that was found on 4-4-08 being returned ( Update Received letter )

UPDATE

Here's a link to the post.
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,150546.msg1082626.html#msg1082626
This now the second bracelet that I have been able to return.

It's a WW2 ID Bracelet.
The owner is now deceased.
I searched for any kids and with the help from my sister we came up with several names.
Then I looked on the High Schools Alumni and further reduced it to 2 people.
Then I searched the US for the names and BINGO got a hit.
Spoke with the son and the bracelet will be off in the mail on Monday morning.
Along with the bracelet I sent a letter explaining where it was found and also included a picture of me
holding the bracelet.
All I asked for was a letter back stating that he received it so I can put into my Metal Detecting Album

Enjoy.......................
What a great feeling this hobby is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is an email sent to me from the Owners Son.

Dear Robert

I am writing to thank you for sending my fathers WWII bracelet to me. We are very happy to have it.

I also want to confess that I was suspicious when you called and probably sounded so. Please don’t let that deter you in the future. What you did was really a good thing.

Now you have me stirred up. I would really like to know who he was visiting when he lost it. Mom and Dad have been gone for some time but there remain a few friends who I will make an effort to contact. Actually, I have always thought that having a metal detector would make for a great hobby. Now I am sure. Aside from finding the Rolex, I can see how you derive pleasure from what you do in this regard. I wonder how much you need to invest to get started?

I will send you a fiver to cover postage – a mere token of appreciation

Well thanks again, and if you know of someone wanting to move to Charlotte, please send them along

You're quite the detective Bob!

You sure put out the effort finding the owner. I'm sure the family's going to be thrilled
to receive that.

Way To Go!
Mike

Hey Bob, belated congrats on that great hunt. Man, it's great that you didn't give up on finding the owner of that bracelet. Now you come, like a voice from the past, and his son can enjoy and cherish the bracelet as long as he lives. That's a thrill!!

Nice work! :occasion14:

Cool story

Sounds like a double hunt for that bracelet, One for the find one for the owner.

Nice job

Hello Bob!
Great gesture for sure!
Any idea as to when the bracelet was actually lost or any history on it?
Did any of the family actually remember it?

No idea the son I spoke to was born in 1947. It could have been lost before that.

Thanks all I will keep you updated..
