what is your story for finding cash on the ground?

mine is i was at a gas station when i noticed a bill on the floor in front of me but next to the guy who was paying so i had to wait. when i first saw it i only saw a portion of it and thought it was a $10 dollar bill. when it was my turn to pay i picked it up and put it in my pocket. then when i am on my way home i take it out and look at it and to my surprise it is a 50 dollar bill. and before you ask no it was not the guys money who was in front of me as he came in after me and i saw him the whole time and he did not drop any money.

Actually I find it nearly everyday :laughing7: OK, some may just be chump change, but it's always a pleasure to roll up on some paper currency. I currently operate a sweeper and clean large mall lots, so you learn to keep your eyes peeled. Last night was not that great 4 finds for a whopping total of $0.18 cents.:tongue3: but it all does add up, especially when you find it 4 times a week

Last week was a better week, found a nice 10 spot alongside a curb I was hitting, you can't believe my catlike reflexes in hitting that brake :laughing7:

I'm thinking of making up a bumper sticker for my truck.

I brake quickly for chump change :laughing9:

I just want to see how much I find during my first year, or a better job comes along. All of the paper currency I have is dated and the location listed on the bill too. I do the same for chump change, once a mall comes up a few times, you know it's a winner :headbang:

I do love careless people, they are my favorite type :tongue3:

A few yrs ago I drove my wife to a casino.....usual, and while she loses her money, I go just 2 miles away to detect a small beach. Swinging away, I spotted a wad of bills on the sand. I picked it up, pocketed it, and kept on swinging. Later on I looked at the wad...(2) $20s, (1) $10, (1) $5, and (2) $1, for a total of $57 (for those who are mathematically challenged).

I've got many but the best cash find was one day a couple of years ago when I was driving and was going to hit the turnaround to go back in the other direction. Traffic was backed up just enough to block it and while I was sitting there grumbling and cussing, I caught that unmistakable color of green out of the corner of my eye in the tall grass on the side of the road. I put the brake on, hopped out of the car and scooped up the bill. It was a hundred dollar bill!!!! Best cash find ever. This area is right across from a Walmart and a bus stop so I figure someone dropped it at the bus stop and it blew across the street but who knows?

This may count too since it had a coin in it, when my 21 year old was about 3 or 4, I took her with me to play disc golf at a local park. It had a caliche parking lot and as we were walking to the course I caught a shine out of the corner of my eye. It was a gold ring smashed into the caliche lot. I pulled it out and it was a gold nugget coin ring with a 1/10 ounce kruggerand in it surrounded by small diamonds. I took it to a jeweler to get it sized and it turned out all he had to do was put it on one of those ring measuring things to straighten it out. been wearing it ever since.

I'll tell you my Mom's "finding money" story as its pretty amazing and alot of "Older" folks around here still remember it.

Back in the late 1930's, my Mom was 6 yrs old and she'd walk with the neighbor boy to school everyday. He was barely 5 yrs old. This particular morning was a cold, windy, winter morning. As usual, they would be rushing to school so as not to be late.

They were walking by some bushes and saw they were Filled with "bills" everywhere! Also stuck all in the snow and ice. They picked through the bushes and gathered all the money they could when they heard the School Bell ringing and they ran to school not wanting to get in trouble for being late. They went directly to the Principle's office and explained the reason they were late and pulled out all the cash they had just found. Everyone was amazed and the Principle told them to go back and find as much more as they could and they could miss school to do this...so they ran back and found many, many more bills.

It turned out they found a total of $4,000...!! The man who lost the money was the owner of the Grainery (sp) in town and he had put all this cash in his back pocket. When he pulled out his handkerchief the money went Flying.

The "little boy" turned out to be the town Barber and he told me that he was that little boy who was with my Mom...He said, "Oh I sure remember That Day"...

Just wanted to share...MinerGirl
