So the Lil' Lowbatts and I hit this spot near the site of the old horse farm where Mrs. Lowbatts lived for awhile as a child. Located an old hunt cabin on a raised flat piece of terrain and got a corn knife, potato rake and small coal shovel, probably kitchen-oriented. Also got two watches in pieces, one a pocket and the other a hunter's watch. No coinage from there yet. One nearby dump site showed 1950's era goodies on the top, didn't dig in.

The area was subdivided in the late 1850's but it's doubtful any development took place after the onset of the Civil War. We were just scouting it out for you vultures any way so didn't concentrate on any of the flat, clear groves in this long-isolated area.

One spot gave us a huge high-five moment though. Got a clear foil signal that sounded deep. Brushed the ground away and found what appeared to be a grinding wheel laying flat and mostly buried with the signal coming from the center. We started the process of removing it and found that it was actually a large flagstone broken into several pieces and placed there deliberately. After it was removed the signal persisted and we started excavating down until at about 6 inches below the 5 inch-thick stone we found what appeared to have been a large amount of foil, enough to wrap several baked potatoes with, all balled up with a nail through the middle of it.

Alright, who's the freakin' joker?

Lemme know if you need directions.

Hah! I'm guessing that's one mighty fine nail, is it gold plated and square?
