Man. . . those scouts lost everything!
The last two days have been perfect for hunting the woods
and I really regret not having my "better" camera for capturing
the colors. . . but it's too darn heavy to lug around.
Anyway, I met up with Neil and DDub this morning at one of
the scout camps hoping to find some decent coinage instead of
the TONS of rolled-up foil that always sound too good to be true.
For most of the morning, I hunted the wooded areas along several
creeks that ran through the forest. From past experience, it seems
that these types of areas have an alluring attraction that kids can't
resist so I was hopeful that I might hit a few interesting targets.
After about 2-hours of hunting, I had amassed a collection of several
Wheats, a spoon, a couple of forks, a gold Cross pen plus a few other
odds & ends.
When I moved to the other side of the creek, I found a really cool set
of eating utensils that were still in their original pouch. Each utensil
had the official Boy Scout logo etched into it's handle. . . and from the
condition they were in, I doubt if they were used more than once.
About a foot away from where I found the pouch, there was a mini pocket
spill which consisted of a 1951 Rosie and a 1950 wheat. . . all lost by
the same Scout I bet
Thanks for looking!

Go get 'em brother!
You know over the last 15 years I've walked almost every inch of creek bed there. Gotten lots of bottles from washouts too.
Be careful because this time of year all manner of critter moves into those tree root holes creekside. Fox, 'coon and skunk have popped out of them and almost onto me. If you get too near to an active coyote den, they will yelp and holler an ungodly amount and manner of noise while you're still out of sight, so listen for that too. If you hear a clicking like a geiger counter it's a groundhog in the hole, snapping his teeth just before he bites. Seen a fella lift his hand up with an 8-10 pounder hanging by the hole-hog's teeth put right through the middle of his hand once.
Have fun!
