Got out today to a local park. This was the first time there for me as it's right next to the local courthouse and PD. The kind of place that looks like you could get arrested, sentenced and locked-up all within 25 yards of your plug. ;D

Well, a fellow detecting bud that works for the city called and said its cool to hunt there.
This property was donated to the city in 1857, so I'm like... "Lets go" !!!

Had lots of fun, rain, wind, and great signals. What more could you ask for.

The blank rounds were most likely from some long past 21 gun salute. They were everywhere!
My 6 wheats were from 1911 to 54

Thanks for looking, and sorry I couldn't make it out to the city guys. Hope you scored some
goodies!

Nice finds!!!! That Merc is great! Too bad it's not a 16'D looking like that. Cool token, and even better that the old timer we met told you where it was from! Can't wait to have more nice hunting days like today :) It was definitely your day today!

The Merc is stunning, but looks like it has been cleaned with a Brillo pad; hopefully not.
And what is that mark from her cheek to her chin? Is is a crack?
Don.....

Thanks Don,,, it wasn't cleaned with a Brillo, but it was with some 000 steel wool. I usually
clean my regular date copper and nickles with it and went over the Merc with it also. Don't know why either,, :icon_scratch: First time I've ever touched a silver with it, and it wasn't
even stained.
What looks like a crack is just a shiny area that disappears when turned in the light. May have happened in my pocket from another coin. My bad...

What I noticed right away was the date and the "States of ", which looked smooched.

BTW, I also cleaned the 39 Jeff with the wool before checking it for a double Monticello.
I gotta start being more careful.... :BangHead:
