Typical Chicago politics = "Vote Twice for..." token
You all herd the old Chicago saying "vote early and vote often", well this token is the proves that fact. I found this token today and wanted to share it. Alderman A.J. Cermak later went onto become the Mayor of Chicago and yes the road was named after him. hahaha The token was from between 1919 - mid 20's it was against the prohibition law was that was passed in 1919. enjoy

Re: Typical Chicago politics = "Vote Twice for..." token
Anton Cermak led the "United Societies for Local Self Government" group which battled the "Anti-Saloon league" during the 1910's and 20's. After the Sunday Closing Act of 1915, he organized an anti prohibition parade of up to 70,000 marchers declaring "Personal Liberty" and "don't take away the working man's holiday!" Cermak defeated William Thompson in the Mayoral race of 1931 and planned for a prosperous and beer drinking 1933 for the Century of Progress World Fair. Mayor Cermak was shot by a crazed assassin while meeting with President Roosevelt in Miami. It is said the shooter planned to kill Roosevelt but missed... but some believe Cermak was the target of a Capone hit since Cermak pledged to clean up mobster activity and illegal operations. The man who represented the wet interests of the city for so long died just weeks before he could see the return of beer to Chicago and the nation.
I love when tokens give you an opportunity to research and learn something!
Great find!

it was only 4" max and my detector was screaming, when I first seen it in the dirt I thought it was a super thin LC but quickly seen "Vote Twice" and started laughing.

Yeah tokens will do that to you! You have that few seconds of WOW this looks good! and then you realize it's a token haha. At least yours is cool. The last tokenish thing I dug was a blank tool tag or something. I totally thought it was a LC at first!

Now that's a cool piece of history. I would take that over a coin all day long (excluding old big silver and gold of course and maybe a few other things ). Congrats
