Went back to my spot today, and had another good day...sort of. One of my early signals this morning ended up being an '08s indian in great shape. Unfortunately, I nicked it. I had feared that this might happen; that sooner or later, I was gonna scratch or nick a key or semi key date coin. What makes this all the more painful is that I BARELY nicked it. Had my lesche probably been as little as 1/8 to 1/4 inch further away from the coin, it would never have been touched. In my defense, there was deep iron directly underneath the coin; it rang up really weird, and was difficult to pinpoint (I thought I had deep junk or maybe a wheatie; I WAS NOT expecting a semi key indian).
Anyway, todays totals: 3 silver dimes (2 Barbers ('06, '14), 1 merc ('20d); couldn't manage a silver Roosie to get the trifecta); the '08s indian; 4 wheats (not pictured; all dated in the '40s); and $6.53 in clad (not pictured).
The '14 Barber and the '20d merc were found in the same hole (old timey pocket spill).
This spot continues to amaze me. Just for the heck of it, here's a list of the goodies it has coughed up so far:
1 Barber quarter (1892)
5 Barber dimes (1894o, 1901, 1906, 1914(x2))
4 indians (including todays semi key 1908s)
1 large cent (1837)
1 V nickel (1906)
1 buffalo nickel (can't remember the date)
1 war nickel ('45p)
1 clad Kennedy half ('74 I think)
numerous mercs (most dated in the '40s; a few earlier)
a few silver Roosies (most '40s)
a few silver Washingtons (various dates '40s-'60s)
and A TON of wheats (including my first ever '09vdb)
