    Kidder Massacre

I had an opportunity to detect on the site of the Kidder massacre up in Sherman county recently. On arriving the first nite I only had about an hour to get out and walk around a bit randomly with the detector. Oddly enough I found 2 fired slugs and one cartridge casing head from an unfired round. The next day a friend of mine joined me and we spent 6 hours covering the grounds, including the spots that 2 historians have found artifacts and for our entire days effort all we found was bits of barb-wire fencing and some modern .22 casing and slugs left behind by folks shooting at prairie dogs.

Has anyone else here detected this site and if so, what did you find? I am of the belief that there have to be more battle related artifacts there, tho I do know others have hunted it in the past and found quite a bit of stuff. I feel that a site will never be totally hunted out.

    Re: Kidder Massacre

I have not had the chance to hunt the site but I agree it usually will not be hunted out.
