Your MFD may be detecting Gold. Prior to 1965 the refining process was not as efficient as it is today. If the Iron Ore was dug in a Gold bearing area, it is possible that micron Gold particles are embedded in the Iron you are finding?

Your problem is common in LRLs. If you are using L-Rods, lower the tips of the Rods at least 15 degrees toward the ground. This reduces the sensitivity and may help. But, the only way I have found to solve this problem is using a Weight Chek accessory. Dell
