Crystal chamber amplifier for Long Range Locator?

Hello.
I am planning to make a long range locator.
Some similar design as the TFR , made from milled brass with sample chamber and antenna from old radio.
I can also add a mini jack connector to the handle so I can use a 9v battery discriminator.
Question: do I need a crystal chamber to amplify the signal? I can foresee this chamber to be built in the handle...
I would like to avoid making the rotating element too heavy.

You can carry a quartz crystal in your pocket. I am no fan of those hand-held rods with frequency generator. That is not how it works but people won't listen. The transmitter needs to be stationary and you neeed to wait about five minutes before circling the transmitter with an L-rod. Otherwise you are dowsing.

Yes me too. I plan to use the transmitter from Spectra. And design a hand held locator something similar to TFR.
I can design the back capsule with a small room so I can insert quartz cristals.
The whitnes room will be in the front after the axis of ball bearing.
