Went out for a look a couple of hours ago. Looks like it burned itself out.

No offense, but if memory aerves, there ain't nothing but some scattered brush to burn. But cool pic anyway. Thought the 10 p.m. pic was of UFO'S making off with the Dutchman's gold...

No offense to me, but I wouldn't offer it to a ranger that happens to see your campfire when the signs are up.
Once the fire gets into the heavier stuff in the washes and ravines, it moves pretty quickly.
Right now though, there's still some moisture in the vegetation out there.

!!! HOT !!!
110-120 in the shade after 10-11AM.
Even hotter down in the washes and on the sunny side of the mountains.
Makes it a bit more difficult than usual.
Been here all week...out there every day but Tuesday.

Regards:SH.

The brush will grow back quickly. The trees won't. Below is a before and after view of the 100,000 acre Silver Fire this spring in the Black Range in SW New Mexico. Large pine stands reduced to bare earth.

Might get you out there sometime, roadrunner.
Some days are solo, but I also enjoy getting out with others during off days.
We were out in the Peralta Road/Trailhead area this week, having a look around.
Didn't park at the trailhead though, no-one out so early in the mornings.
Just got back home a couple of hours ago, and likely won't be back down until the rendezvous.
'Bout 75F here right now....nice and cool.

Regards:SH.

I usually fly down...5 hours vs 45 hours driving time.
Unfortunately that means I have to leave all that gold behind :BangHead: , cause it's too embarrassing when it sets everything off at the airport.
Sounds like a jailbreak at Sing Sing when that happens.

Thanks for the offers. I'll keep it in mind.....SH.

One shot from last week....
