Really enjoy your thread. One question, when you say "tot" what does that stand for? Thanks. Happy hunting.

Thank you Gracie ! Tot lots are the play area with slides, swings, and the like. Ground is usually easy digging, woodchips, sand, but sometimes more and more parks are converting to rubber coatings no digging there.

Ohhh, I thought it was an acronym. Thanks for the info. BTW, what kind of shovel do you use? Happy hunting.

Lesche T Handle Ground Shark 36 Shovel | Shop | Features | Reviews | MetalDetector.com I use that out in fields and trails makes lousy plugs, should have bought Lesche All Purpose Shovel | Shop | Features | Reviews | MetalDetector.com or the sampson. In parks mostly just use your standard lesche digger. How about you ? What are you finding and where ?

Sorry for the delay in responding, was out-and-about all weekend. I dont MD much, mostly CRH. I recently got a Garrett Ace 250 MD and a Whites Pinpointer hoping to start MD more. I've been out about 5 times and havent gotten anything but junk. Seeing how well you do with your equipment (at least you pluck some clad almost every outing), i was thinking about investing in a shovel like you have. I realize your results have more to do with you knowing what you are doing than the shovel, but I figure it can't hurt my chances.

I live in VA, so there are a lot of rules about where I can MD. That's why i dont go out much.

The CRH has been fun, and I've done pretty well, mostly with 1/2, but an occasional quarter, dime or war nickel.

Thanks again for the answers. Happy hunting.

You're welcome. I use a Lesche digger mostly, started with a cheap garden trowel. What rules are you up against ?

Here in parks I never use the shovels just the digger, I usually just slit the ground and pull out the target. If I missed it I cut a flap and poke around till I get it. I also am not getting good silver hits, as silver in metro Boston usually has sunk below 8 inches. In my back yard we had over a foot of loam. I'm still learning my equipment, and the hobby. I enjoy the time outside, and the exercise is fantastic, have not done as many up/downs since the military.
As far as the clad I'm hitting I have a goal of 3.00 a day in parks just so I have a chance to break 100 in a month, I may hit that this month!

Happy Hunting !
