Located the foundation remains of an old house on our farm property. The house dates from about 1800 until the early 1870's when it was dismantled and much of the foundation stone used for our current farm house home. In searching the inside ground, I found what appears to be a well or cistern that has been filled in with rocks. Has anyone run into an old house/foundation that indicates that the well was actually inside of the dwelling? With the help of my son I'd like to try and excavate it. My second question would be, from you veterans' experiences, would it be worth it? I'm a definite newbie but this site is on my land and private. Pretty sure I've already found the depression for the privy or trash pit. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
