fun day getting out and digging gold. found 3 and had a rookie mining friend
who dug his first gold today, making it 4.
but i think i lost one down the garbage disposal. i can hear it in there
when i turn it on.
also eyeballed this chain out in the middle of nowhere.
its marked 18k. i was thinking it was plated junk, but looking under a loop
it looks like gold soldering in the clasp area.
i think its 18k gold plated with platinum.

update, did a 10 minute soak in muriatic acid.
no discoloration of the chain or the acid.
i do have a new gold acid test kit on order.
still having a hard time believing this thing is gold
due to it looking so ugly.
62.84 grams 18k at todays spot is a bit over $2600.
very tempting to send it to the refinery.
i have been thinking about getting a used minelab gp5000.

gold is where you find it.

I found two gold chains with the same 18k markings and they even have the same waffle type look to the lnks. Mine are brass.

The nugetts are sooooo cooool!

Test with magnet.

Hold chain and slowly pull magnet away.

Any movement... fake... but still could be brass.

Never do magnet test near any clasp... for all clasps have metal springs which will be attracted by the magnet.

xr7ator, after reading your post i hit it hard with the file.
looks copper.
back in the acid over night.

AARC, good idea.
