this happened way back long time ago... It was funny to me, but not to my friend ::). back in 1971 my friend and I used to go to upstate N.Y. to hunt his old stomping grounds, where he grew up. I think we were in Binghamton, N.Y. We had gotten permission from an I.B.M. employee that owned some property in the outback that happened to have a house on it that was built in the early 1800's. We asked him if we could check out the inside, he said sure! Just be careful, because the floor was falling into the cellar area. Well, I was rummaging the upstairs, my friend went down some steps to the cellar, he found a bunch of old canning jars with labels that said; peches, put up july 14, '99. Well it was starting to snow and I hollered to my friend that we'd better leave before we got stuck in 12 feet of snow :laughing7:. When all of a sudden I heard him screaming, and running around down there, making all kinds of racket, he comes a running right past me and out the door, so I followed him, and out behind me came a very sleepy, but angry bear. We made it to the truck with seconds to spare :o. we waited till the bear left, then went around back of the house, where we found the cellar door ajar, the bear crawled through that opening and was in the midst of getting down for a long winters nap. My friend said he saw a pile of old clothing laying in the back of the cellar and kicked it a few times, till it kicked back. BTW, we did go back and get all those Atlas E-Z Seal jars, when we got home to Mich. we opened and poured the contents on the grass behind my garage, the next day all the grass was dead.........NGE

That is one of the funniest things I have ever read!!!! I ended up waking up my wife laughing and thought I was going to wake up our two year old as I heard her stir. Thanks for the story!

When I was younger I lost track of time and was out 2 or 3 miles in the woods detecting when the sun went down just after seeing the Blair Witch Project so I started to panic then I seen one of those things in the tree that they kept seeing in the movie so I grabbed my bike and took off running and carrying it since I cant ride it in the woods its too dense just then I fell flat on my face with my detector and bike, got back up and kept running as fast as I could for the next 2 miles till I hit the road. I dont know if it was the funniest but it scared the hell out of me, im sure if anyone seen me they thought I was nuts. I lost a few coins, my pepper spray, and probe in the run but no witches got me that night thank God. I was banged up pretty bad from falling and running through the thorn bushes and tree's but I felt no pain till I got home. I still refuse to detecting in the woods anytime close to night fall. It still scares me to think about it haha.

This is why I don't watch scary movies. I like being in the woods and don't want any spooks running around in my brain every time I hear something move. Very amusing story Jimmy.

I went to a local casino with my son in law for an evening. He had parked his car at our condo but forgot to put the parking permit in his car. When we came back his car was towed. The next day I went hunting and found a few coins and aluminum tops before heading back to car I was swinging the detector on the way back and found a nice toy tow truck. I just had to show it to my son in law. For some reason, He didn;t find it very funny. LOL ted

Last August, I spent a week at a friend's condo in South Beach, (Miami Beach, FL.). I took my detector to South Beach at about 7am and detected for about an hour, I was quickly filling up a gallon size bag with all kinds of stuff, when I heard this voice, "Excuse me ma'am?"

I looked up and there were 4 mid twenties blonde women standing there asking about my detector. I showed it to them and how to hold it. The point of the story was they were all models and topless and they were um......enhanced. :icon_sunny: I was trying to speak seriously about how to hold it and swinging it side to side, trying not to giggle as they were swinging their whole bodies with the detector...., you get the idea.

I guess it would have been a better story if I had been male, but when I told my teenage son, he couldn't stop laughing!
