Mine was when I had a good signal and gave the location to my partner. I said here's a gift from me to you. I told him it was a ring, when he dug it up it was the biggest class ring I'd ever seen. Unfortunately it wasn't gold but a ring is still a ring.

Mine was this May. I was out relic hunting and was able to predict the target before digging...8 out of 9 times. The 9th one I said was a horseshoe and was a piece of rebar.

Mine was on the second hunt with this detector.
I turned off the discriminator,
and started to dig everything.

Mine was with my Ace250 when I was finally learning how to search around iron littered cellar holes with success. Man, that detector would drive me crazy at times. But, I figured her out. Still learning the Tejon. But, we're coming along rather nicely.

When I stopped looking at the screen on my ACE250 and relied on sound alone.

Then I gave away the ACE when I bought a Tesoro Magic Wand.

Pardon me; I didn't mean to write that out loud.
I meant to say Tesoro Silver uMax. :headbang:

The day I decided I didn't have to change my settings again, and haven't for at least 6 years.

My ahah moment.... when I got a small "treasure chest" for my birthday. I needed a small container to put all my baubles and trinkets in. I now had that acknowledgement that I was getting GOOD at this hobby! TTC

When on one hunt in a very good spot everyone was finding civil war bullets except me! I had lead discriminated out accidentally! But that may have been more of a "DOH!!" moment. Monty

Every time a good target turns up. You can learn from them all. And, when I realized that no amount of technology could replace an unhesitating willingness to dig.

My ahah moment was not so much the detector as it was the situation. In 1985 I watched my wife dig a 1889 Morgan silver dollar with a rented metal detector. The detector was an old Whites Coinmaster BFO. I was immediately hooked, the wife was not!
