One word - EBAY!!!!!!
Ebay brings much better prices than any jeweler or coin shop. Here's the # of one of my current auctions - 8944453870 .

The 1921 SL quarter I found in March - a coin dealer offered $80 for. It sold on EBAY for $350!!!!!!!

the wife sold new jewelry on ebay for a while...i had her put several found peices and several estate sale peices on auction to see what would happen...something about the words estate, and dug, seem to make bidders crazy as these peices sold way better than the fine quality new items she WAS selling...........gldhntr

I don't know about the Ebay thing, I'm thinking about taking the rings around and getting them appraised. If I can find someone with a digital camera I"ll post some pics to see what you guys think.

An appraisal is a good place to start and will give you something to base you "minimum" ebay price on. Lots of luck.

A local jeweler here said they charge $50 for appraisal!! Some rings are worth only that.

Ya, that's a problem. You really need to get educated on antiques, gold, silver, gemstones, coins, etc.. It's a daunting task.
Thru the years, I've gained a lot of knowledge, but still don't know everything. I would say the basics are some good reference books on coins, tokens, toys, toy rings, antique jewelry, etc. and a scale, diamond tester, acid test kit and some good cleaning supplies and basicly experience.
