    My Newest Spot

I secured permission yesterday (Nov. 27, 2011) to hunt an old pool/skating rink. A lot of history out at this place. Supposedly the skating rink has been around since the 30's and the pool was built a few years after the skating rink. I hit it for about an hour and got a little clad. Found quite a few old soda bottles as well. Will be returning around Christmas with my new detector to continue the search. Just extremely excited about this spot and had to share. I know its gonna produce some good stuff. A few attached pictures.

Looks like an awesome place with a lot of potential...you should find a lot of hidden treasures. You have secured permission to hunt here, just pray that no one recognizes the place & sneaks in without permission.

Thanks for the comments. I'm not too worried about anyone recognizing it. If someone does and wishes to trespass good luck. The owner and a work hand still live just yards from the site. The owner told me someone had detected it a few years earlier. Still lots of goodies to be found though... that is if they even found anything.

I had actually slid down this slide probably hundreds of times as a kid. I used to swim and skate here. Kinda sad to see it in the shape its in.

LOL....ur silly!! I like places like that & bet you'll have a blast detecting it!! When are you gonna go? Wouldn't that be awesome to find something of yours that you lost when you were little? That would be the find of a lifetime. But considering you spent a lot of time there when you were younger....makes it sentimental which is all the readon you'll have a blast!! I CAN'T WAIT to see what you find...& you have given me an idea for a place that I'm now DYING to go detect!!! Keep us updated...a play by play would be nice.....take pictures & do a video!!! And for old time sake......you've GOT to go down the slide!!!! And take a picture of you doing it!!! Can't wait!!!!!

You might want to get a long snake and clean out the drains anywhere you find them there. Pools, sinks, floor drains, etc. Also, look for storm drain traps on the property. Some of them will have culvert covers over them. IMHO, you have a gold mine and you should treat the owners right.

I'll be back there around Christmas. I've got a new detector coming this week. Hopefully I will have some good finds to post. Whereabouts in OK are you?

Thanks for the tips. I'll def. look around for drains. Behind the pool there are two large pumps and about 8 square concrete vaults that were sand filters. Just looking at them they peaked my interest. I agree on the gold mine part. The owner is one of the nicest people I've met. Reminds me of my grandma. Already have the gears turning on something nice I could do for her since she is being so generous.

I'm in NW Oklahoma. A new detector? What kind? I wish I could detect that spot with you.....but we'd end up playing "squash the lemon" on the slide & not get any detecting done...lol. Gosh, if I were you, I don't think I could wait until Christmas.

    Re: My Newest Spot

My wife got me a Ace 250 for Christmas. I was recently in NE Oklahoma fishing near Fort Gibson. Beautiful up there. I don't wanna wait til Christmas either but, I don't wanna wear my welcome out with this lady. It will be there a month from now so I can wait. I'll just have to find some new spots before then. Working on another about an hours drive from me here in Dallas. Probably visit the property owner this weekend and see what happens.

    Re: My Newest Spot

That will be great....you can break in you're new detector on old grounds. What are you using now? You should get your wife a detector for Christmas, or let her have your other one, & you guys team up & clear some ground. Plus she can video tape you going down that slide !! And yes, some areas in Oklahoma are very pretty, rolling hills, the different colors & shades of the earth. Have you been fishing at Salt Plaines?
