Metal Detecting in Las Vegas NV
Hi guys I am thinking of moving to Las Vegas and wanted to know if you are allowed to hunt the parks there. I know Lake Mead and State parks are off limits but cannot find anything about City or county parks. If anyone knows whether you can hunt there or not I would appreciate the information. Thanks Ted

Re: Metal Detecting in Las Vegas NV
I would presume the city of Las Vegas, and Clark county both have websites, right? (almost automatic in this digital day and age, eh? ) Then just go there, and I'm sure there's subsections for their parks and rec. divisions, right? And within that, there should be clickable tabs for the rules and regulations of their parks, right? (ie.: no dogs allowed, fires in fire pits only, closes at sunset, and so forth). If you see nothing addressing "metal detecting" (ie.: silent on the issue), then you can presume it is therefore not prohibited
Metal detecting is my one worldy vice!

I go to Vegas and sometimes laughflin NV. I wonder how legal metal detecting is in Laughflin NV. I hear Bullhead across the Colorado River has good finds. Good Luck... from French Gulch, Northern California.

Re: Metal Detecting in Las Vegas NV
In the crazy world we live in I would expect prostitution to be legal in Las Vegas and metal detecting to be illegal. Somehow that seems fitting. That would make us the scummiest of the scummy.

Re: Metal Detecting in Las Vegas NV
I live in Vegas and hunt parks alot. Here is the deal:
There are two different style signs posted for the rules of a park in Vegas. If the sign at the park is WHITE there is only surface find, no digging. If the sign is GREEN it makes no mention of metal detecting or digging. I've hunted dozens of parks with the green signs, in Vegas though, everything is relatively new. I've found one silver dime, about a half dozen decent silver or gold rings, everything else is junk or clad.

I am from Northern Cal, I stopped going to Vegas because The Don Laughflin's Riverside Hotel/Resort Offers more Comps & they have the most beautiful Hotel Looking Over the Colorado River on the border Bullhead City & Laughflin. They also have all food courts, shops bowling, movies,Sports Book In the Casino, you never have to step out. My Slot Club "Host/Employee" at the "King of Clubs"-"Richard Pearson" Is a actual "Hard-Rock Mine" Owner Close in Nevada & he tells me he is doing good! They have a toll Free Ph.Number to call him. Tell him "Don The Plastering Contractor sent Ya. I also talked to a guy who works security there and he says they are finding a lot of gold that part of Nevada by bullhead city too! Good Luck "San Diego Ted".

Re: Metal Detecting in Las Vegas NV
I live in Vegas and my concern with Laughlin is all the old folks smoking while hooked up to the o2.
All kidding aside, the parks are not great hunting in Vegas. Our local GPAA club had a hunt that was fun, maybe more in the future.
Tough to set up hunts locally and get permission to use dig-able land.

Good luck with your local prospects in treasure hunting with your MD.
I guess you have to make do.
For grinns, I only spoke about laughflin because it is a hell of a lot closer for you than me.
You are luckier than you think, I would love to check with my MD around Bullhead and other great Nevada areas. There is Gold in those desert areas! I know many who used a Gas engine drywash machine. Dusty & dirty but ya got the gold. I think I probably get run off parks by a cane swinging person who is on a limited fixed income.
When I was first 21 Yr's old, I walked into a Vegas Casino at 4 AM after driving all night... I went to the first slot machine I saw and I was yelled at by a aged old lady, The yelled: You touch that machine and I'll break your arm! (She was playing a row of 5 machines!) I got the hell out of there...Fast and left the Casino. I did not have any sleep and I wasn't ready to deal with a crazy lady! (You can keep my share of that.)
Well Good luck and don't forget to dodge the canes and arm breakin crazy people in Las Vegas. lol
