I was at Va beach in July so I thought I would bring my detector.. Im pretty new to the hobby, but ended up finding about 30 rusty nails, some old rusted bolts, and a 2ft long rusted chain that weighed about 10lbs...

most of this stuff was 1-2ft down, but i did find a huge piece of rusted iron about 4 feet down. it was square, about 3 inches thick, probably weighed 30lbs. at first i thought i hit a chest.. hahah. had about 10-15 people around this massive hole before i brought it up. i set it near the pier and it was gone in like 10 min..

pretty weird stuff huh? not sure how old it is, since i think stuff rusts pretty fast near the ocean...

You see that's why we never let newbies go to the beach alone. You actually discovered the "Plate of VB" and "The Chain of Elder Seamen" then left them to looters at the pier! Many of us have been researching these very important relics for years! Oh my gosh. I hope you didn't also leave the "Nails of the Deep" behind.... [/img]
