Why? I hear only good things about that whites model. I know a guy that has 16 whites detectors (yes modern ones too) and this is his preferred weapon of choice.
The 705 might be more modern but I have my doubts it's any better.

Does the Eagle displease you in some way or just looking for greener grass?

I have used whites for 30 years, I guess I just want to give another detector a try. I have a whites coin master IV / disc that is 24 yrs old an still works so I mean no disrespect to white detectors !

I think you are going to love the Xterra 705! At its price point of $730.00 it is a bargain! Good Luck!

Well there are a lot a good choices out there that's for sure. And you probably can't go wrong with any of the major manufacturers. I prefer Whites and also like Tesoros. Best customer service in the industry.
I hunt with a guy that uses an Ace 350 and it works well too. I've watched him dig IH's & dimes at 8+ inches more than once. Pretty impressive for a $300 "starter" detector.
I got put off on Minelab after buying an E-Trac that I just didn't like. Not saying it was a bad machine as it seemed to work very well, it just wasn't for me.

The new Whites Spectra V series are modern and VERY impressive. Jus sayin!

I'm looking at buying a new mine lab xterra 705, any thought or other recommendations, I have a whites eagle spectrum now an just want a more modern detector, I'm mostly looking for coins, thanks !
I don't think the 705 would be much of a step up from a spectrum. A V3i, E-trac, or CTX 3030 would be a bigger jump.
