Denture cleaning tablets for coins?

Has anyone ever tried denture cleaning tablets to clean coins?

I have been using them for 40 yrs to keep my coffee thermos clean and it works perfect for that.

I just thought maybe it would work on pennies.

I used to clean each copper as I found them. They seemed to clean up easier and better if I did it while they were still damp or wet from the ground. But this always cut into my detecting time.

I stick my coins in a pill bottle till I get home. The dirt seems really hard and bonded. Does anybody keep them wet till they get home? I thought about adding water, or peroxide, or even the denture cleaning tablets with water.

I'm not sure I'd do that with collectible coins and with modern coins.....who cares? A tumbler is probably cheaper to use. It sounds like an interesting experiment though. Try some and give us a report on your results!

If you keep them dug coins from drying out they will clean up much easier no doubt.

Yes I will try to keep them moist. The pill bottle idea sounds like a great idea.
