Hi,I am brand new to TreasureNet.I was looking for help in identifying what this is.The penny was dug too,but is in the picture just to show reference to the size of the piece.Any guesses or ID is greatly appreciated :)

Thanks,a friend of mine who detects said that as well....I just was not too sure being it seemed a little big to be that but I am sure there are different size pocket watches... thanks for the response!

Clean it up real good and look for very small makers marks. You may be able to match them up with something online.

Pocket watch or make-up case but because its heavy, I say pocket watch cover.

Now I know its from a pocket watch. I did a search of vintage pocket watch images and the Waltham watch company used that shield design and flowers on many of their pocket watches. Searched compact make-up cases and found none with that design.
